Senior underworld boss killed in suspected double murder in northern Israel - The Times of Israel

Two men were found shot dead in northern Israel on Saturday in a suspected double murder.

The men — identified as Shumi Iskov (53) and his son (20) — were killed in the city of Kiryat Motzkin, adjacent to Haifa. Iskov was known to the police as the leader of the so-called Georgian mafia in the Krayot area in northern Israel.

Footage from the scene indicated that the men were found dead inside a car, on Zvulun Hammer street in the northern city.

The Magen David Adom ambulance service said its medics were called to the scene shortly after 9 p.m. “We performed medical tests, but they were without vital signs, and we had no choice but to declare their deaths,” an MDA medic said.

Eyewitnesses told Channel 12 news that at least two suspects fired some 20 bullets toward the two men before fleeing the scene.

Police arrived on the scene and searched the area for suspects and evidence. Law enforcement believed the killings were related to criminal activity and launched an investigation, but had not made any arrests.

The mob boss and his brother, Shalom, survived a previous assassination attempt in 2011, in which they were both shot and moderately wounded.
