Stunt driver stopped for doing more than double the limit in a school zone
It appears drivers in Chatham-Kent aren’t getting the message about slowing down in community safety zones around schools.
Chatham-Kent police officers did their part to drive that message home by issuing another 19 tickets to motorists for speeding and administrative offences in and around school zones on Thursday.
Police said they also stopped a 27-year-old Chatham woman who was allegedly recorded going 93 kilometres per hour in a 40 km/h community safety zone in Blenheim.
She was charged with stunt driving and as a result, her license was suspended for seven days and her vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for 14 days. She will also be required to attend court in October to answer to the charge.
Officers have been patrolling community safety zones around Chatham-Kent every day since school started, issuing 15 tickets to motorists on Tuesday and another 24 tickets on Wednesday, mostly for speeding.
